DESCRIPTION: EPW - Patek Philippe, Genève, made for Tiffany & Co, New York, minute repeating split-seconds chronograph, 46mm, heavy 18K rose gold OF original hidden-hinge case with hinged gold cuvette, unusual case construction with hinged bezel concealing keyed bezel for crystal, seen on similar examples, chronograph shift-lock at 11, SW-SS, WED with outer chapter divided in fifths of seconds, 16 lignes mvt with fully capped lever escapement, at least 27J, governor train concealed, could have as many as 35J, fausses-côtes NI damascene, s#80424, together with color photocopy of Extract from the Archives documenting sale of the mvt only on July 17th, 1889, triple signed Tiffany, without Patek signatures, American made Tiffany case. Gross weight of assembled watch 67.4 dwt (104.8 g).
CONDITION: Mvt: GRO, near mint mvt condition overall, slight cloudiness from oil spread lifts right off with rodico, no oxide; good repeat function and tone; good split function with occasional drift anticlockwise on activation, or hang-up of the split hand, both simple lubrication issues; dial perfect; hands mint; case shows very light wear, many MFS, no dents or dings; bow tight, crown shows light wear, full gold highlights; good glass crystal.
